How can Christians Reach the World
Posted by abdaubs 915 days ago (Editorial)I read a blog yesterday where someone was talking about what Christians can do to reach out to the world. I posted this reply and thought it would be good to share it here as well. I really believe that many Christian's hearts are divided, half for God and half for the world. The Bible clearly tells us that we cannot serve two masters, either we will hate the one and love the other, or we will stand by and be devoted to the one and despise and be against the other (Matthew 6:24).
If we ever want to be effective in reaching the world, we have to turn our hearts undivided over to God and follow Him completely, uncompromisingly. Jesus said in Luke 9:23,"Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me." Every act of disobedience limits Jesus' fruit from being displayed in us. Without fruit for people to physically see in us, we have nothing to draw others to Christ with.
When we reverentially fear God and live completely for His purpose and His will each day, we start to learn to be sensitive to His voice so we can hear who He wants us to reach out to each day. As a former divided heart Christian, I don't think I ever brought anyone to Christ, but I am sure I pushed many farther away from Christ. There was no difference in me, I was just as miserable as the rest of the world, and doing the same things as the rest of the world was doing. Why would they want what I had when there wasn't any difference in their eyes?
We need to lay down our idols(our worldly things) and follow Jesus completely in every area of our life, laying down the things that hinder His glory from being displayed in us. It's amazing how much time we have and opportunities we find when we live for God doing what He desires for us each day. Jesus' burden is light, we are overburdened by our own desires and goals. Once we lay ourselves down, and we pick up his burden, we will reach the world.
I'd love to hear your thoughts. Do you notice many Christians who are effective in reaching out to the world? Do you notice if there are more who are ineffective?
Blessings:)
